You're hired! .....now what?
Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials and thank you for
choosing Officiants Plus to start the next chapter of your lives together!
It is sincerely an honor and privilege to be your officiant of choice.
Here are a few helpful guidelines and tips to get started.
Is your venue secured with a deposit or permit? (Be sure to triple check) Most beaches and parks require a use permit and is issued by the city in which the venue is located.
Do you have your Marriage License? This is a required legal document that needs to be in-hand at the time of your marriage and the person officiating the marriage is responsible for returning it once completed to the county clerk’s office. You must first apply on-line and schedule an appointment at
https://cr.ocgov.com/marriageappointment/default.asp . Your CA Marriage License is valid within California up to 90 days from application. A confidential marriage license does not require a witness signature and a regular one requires at least one witness and there are signature lines for two. If either of you are recently divorced, a copy of the divorce decree will be needed when you are obtaining your marriage license. When deciding who you'd like to have sign your marriage license as your 'witness(es)', be sure they are capable of: signing their name, writing their full address and dating the document correctly. Your marriage license is a legal document, mistakes cannot be corrected and will result in delays and extra fees in recording your license. (Please be sure to bring your marriage license to the wedding)
Are you getting married around a national holiday? Make sure you obtain your Marriage license well in advance of holidays because the county offices may be closed the day before and after the holiday and are often closed on Fridays. It’s a good idea to get it sooner than later.
Have you paid your “Save The Date” deposit? In order to lock in your date and time on our calendar, we require a non-refundable deposit. If you need to reschedule, we can usually accommodate it as long as we do not have prior commitments but, we simply cannot hold a date without a deposit and appreciate your understanding. Please go to ‘Services & Pricing’ and select ‘Save The Date’ to pay your deposit.
Vows and service script Once you are confirmed on our calendar, you will be sent samples of service scripts, readings and vow ideas. Once vow and service crafting is completed (unlimited emails and calls as needed) your service “script” will be printed and kept in our binder for your wedding day service. We ask that you complete and forward your final draft to us no later than 48 hours prior to your service to ensure we have the needed time to proof and print it.
Please consider having us at your rehearsal Obviously, you don't get married every day but, having an experienced officiant at your rehearsal truly can make the difference between a nice service and a perfect one. We know the most commonly overlooked details of marriage ceremonies and the extra $ is often worth the insurance.
